Celebrating Six Years of Japanese Spirit Education and Bartending Excellence.
Entering its sixth consecutive year, The Great Honkaku Shochu & Awamori Contest returns to continue its mission of bringing the unique world of Japanese spirits closer to bartenders across the UK.
Powered by the UK Bartenders’ Guild and sponsored by the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association, the competition has become an established platform for bartenders to discover, taste and deepen their knowledge of Honkaku Shochu and Awamori, while exploring the history, culture and craftsmanship behind these fascinating spirits.
The 2027 edition will once again begin with a series of educational seminars designed to introduce bartenders to the diversity of Shochu and Awamori and inspire them ahead of the competition. This year, three educational sessions will take place across the UK and online.
